Highland Dude Equine Rescue is located on Highway 16 - 30 miles west of Edmonton, near Wabamun, AB. They rescue horses mainly from auctions where there are too many horses going through that are just too nice for the fate of slaughter. They also take in owner surrenders under certain circumstances as space permits.

While they specialize in draft and draft crosses, they aren't exclusive to those breeds.

Many of the horses taken in have had little to no human contact so a lot of what they do is socialization - although horses are taught the basics or more as time permits.
